Fall Protection Training

ensure worker safety when working with heights

This Fall Protection Training provides construction workers with a safe way to practice using fall protection equipment and react to fall hazards in a realistic virtual environment. The trainee will learn appropriate use of fall arrest safety harnesses and lanyards while performing construction tasks on-site at a high rise building. The fall protection scenarios are based on OSHA guidelines. Employees learn the proper equipment and are assessed on using them at the construction job site.

what you'll learn

This fall protection training is also an assessment of fall protection skills where they are evaluated and graded on following OSHA safety procedures. The training includes:

  • Inspecting for hazards and selecting proper equipment for fall protection
  • Learning how to tie off fall arrest safety harnesses to the correct anchor locations
  • Safely securing tools and completing the work task while avoiding fall hazards
  • Evaluating the worker’s ability to meet the requirements of proper fall protection

The VR Experience

In this training, users must safely complete a simple work task at heights. Users are challenged to recognize hazards and defective personal protective equipment, locate proper tie off locations, and secure hand tools. Employees can practice these skills in one of the practice environments, then move on to complete
these critical OSHA safety skills in a “real world” assessment challenge. The assessment takes place at a construction site on a high rise building and evaluates their demonstrated knowledge of working at heights safely. If the worker makes any mistakes during the training, there is an appropriate consequence experienced such as: getting fired for taking too long to comply with the supervisor’s request, falling and sustaining injury due to damaged equipment, fatal injury during scaffolding collapse, and injuring a bystander by dropping a tool. Proper fall protection can also be demonstrated with surviving a scaffolding collapse when the worker successfully meets the OSHA requirements.
