Description/Objectives
The CompEx Ex01-Ex04 Gas and vapours qualification has been developed for electrical and instrument technicians working in hazardous locations where gases or vapours can form explosive atmospheres. Practical “hands-on” training and assessment take place in a realistic simulated environment, giving attendees a comprehensive learning experience that is directly related to a true industry setting. This qualification focuses on the minimum specifications identified in IEC60079:0, IEC60079:10.1, IEC60079:14 and IEC6007
Upon completion of the CompEx Ex01-04 course the student will be able to:
- Demonstrate installation and inspections skills in hazardous areas.
- Understand basics of Ex protection methods and where each may be used.
- Demonstrate understanding of Ex markings
- Understand which activities are and are not allowed with regards to maintenance and repairs.


Target Audience
This qualification is suitable for practicing electrical or instrument technicians who are involved in installing, inspecting and maintaining certified Ex electrical equipment in locations where gases and vapours can potentially create a hazardous area.

Outcome
Candidates who are successful in both the theory and practical assessments will receive a CompEx Certificate in Core Competence.

Delivery
- OPTION-1: Five days In-person plus On-line exam
- OPTION 2: Three days interactive live session on zoom two days hands on training, practical assessment and online exam
- OPTION -3: Self-paced online modules plus two days hands-on training, practical assessment, and online exam

Prerequisite
Practicing competent electrical & instrument technicians.
Electrical, and Instrument engineers with previous practical experience.
Formation
The 5-day course includes:
- 3 days of guided learning
- 2 days of practical assessment(Assessment is undertaken using both practical assessments and an online examination that covers the four separate CompEx units.)
