Description/Objectives
The CompEx Dust qualification has been designed for practicing electrical or instrumentation technicians who work in hazardous locations where combustible dust, fibers, or flyings can form an explosive atmosphere.
Upon completion of the CompEx 05/06 course, the student will be able to:
- Demonstrate installation and inspections skills in explosive dust atmospheres
- Understand basics of Ex protection methods in explosive dust atmospheres and where each may be used
- Demonstrate understanding of Ex markings for explosive dust atmospheres


Target Audience
This qualification is suitable for electro technical personnel who work on the physical installation and assembly of new ‘Ex’ equipment and perform preventive maintenance and inspections on previously installed equipment in hazardous dust atmospheres.

Outcome
Candidates who are successful in both the theory and practical assessments will receive a CompEx Certificate in Core Competence.

Delivery
- OPTION-1: In-person plus On-line exam.
- OPTION -2 Two-days interactive live session on zoom 1 day of hands-on training, practical assessment, and online exam

Prerequisite
Practicing competent electrical & instrument operatives. A reasonable standard of English is expected. Electrical/instrument engineers with previous practical experience. Prior CompEx certification supported by employer-sponsored letter
Formation
The 3 days course includes:
- 1.5 days of guided learning
- 1.5 days assessment (Assessment is undertaken using both practical assessments and an examination that covers the two separate CompEx units)
